On a flight to New Orleans I was reading two
separate articles about breast cancer and
silicone implants. When I arrived I bought some
silicone kitchen bowls and made this simple torso. I then made a
sandmould of it and cast it in Iron. The Iron pour did not pour perfectly but I presented it with all its defects. The risers and gates in the mould were left and became a handle for the form, hence the title 'Shopping for Silicone'. The two objects are displayed side by side.
