Optrex Eye (and other eyes)

The human eye is one of our most familiar images. We communicate our emotions to each other by eye contact. The eye is the only real barrier in life - it is the division between our mind and the world.
The eye is modelled from Michelangelo's David - a heroic eye. It has been blown up to 45 times the size of a normal eye. The large scale of the eye makes it look strangely unfamiliar close up. The sculpture invites the spectator to go behind the surface and look out through the pupil.
Wire frame skeleton for Eye.
Maquette for Millennium Dome Proposal. The idea was that the pupil became a Camera Obscura. This would have been a large piece with the eyeball seating forty people, it would also have been able to rotate on hydraulics.
Carved Eye and Brow.
